How does the Payment System Work?

The payment system is integrated into your website to allow secure payments* over the internet. The integrated payment system can include a shopping cart, item buy buttons, donation buttons and will include a page for payment. The user will be taken to a secure area to complete personal information and card details when making a payment. This information is then sent via 128 bit SSL encryption to your merchant account for processing. The processing can be automatically processed by your payment system to accept the payment or the processing can be performed by your payment system and then ask for confirmation from your business. Once the payment is authorised the funds will then be deposited into your bank account.

What responsibilities does my business have?

The main responsibility your business will have is to check regularly for payments and to deliver the item/service to the customer once a payment has been received.

I'm not sure which payment system to choose

Our advice for most business's would be to opt for payment system 2. We advise business's to opt for payment system 1 if your business needs to be able to accept most methods of payment and can afford the annual fees. We advise business's to opt for payment system 2 if you are happy only accepting the major payment methods and wish to take advantage of the cost free setup fees and annual costs. Obviously there may be other factors involved so you may want to discuss this with us in more detail.

What about fraud?

Payment system 1: To be covered against fraud using payment system 1 you will need to take out an extra fraud protection policy which also entitles you to a free anti-fraud policy. The fraud protection policy will cost you £20 per month.

Payment system 2 includes fraud protection cover in the costs as long as you follow the strict guidelines.
